Labor Day Links to Improve Your Finances

It’s a long weekend, and an awesome opportunity to relax, sit back, and learn a thing or two about money. What—isn’t that how you spend your free time, too? 🙂

Here is the best money reading I’ve found on the Web this weekend:

1. At Bible Money Matters, Craig Ford tells us how to get a spouse to start budgeting. It’s not always an easy task, but hopefully these tips will make it a little smoother.
2. Frugal Dad asks us if our kids have too many toys. There are some great suggestions in this post, and it really made me stop and think about how I want to handle my own kids’ entertainment.
3. The Financial Samurai talks about spending too much money recently and course-correcting. He makes some great observations about the nature of spending and how to break bad habits.
4. Five Cent Nickel’s Neal Frankle tells us to stop learning and start earning. This was a truly inspiring post, but also includes some solid practical advice. Very well done.
5. Trent writes about the interesting relationship between frugality and accumulation at The Simple Dollar. It’s like being stuck between a rock and a hard place, but Trent offers some suggestions.
6. Robert Brokamp reassures us that we will get Social Security when we retire, and explains why at Get Rich Slowly. It’s an interesting debate for those of you who are planning your distant future.
