Big Box Book Bonanza (Giveaway!)

Regular posting on the blog will resume on September 20th! The date is finally set. 🙂

Be sure to sign up for my new weekly newsletter if you haven’t already done so!

In the meantime, I’m doing a bit of housekeeping and have decided to share with you some of the financial books that I’ve collected over the years. My shelf space thanks you.

So today, you have your choice of three “boxes.” I’ve put the books in related collections, and you have your choice of which to win.

Box 1 (for the New Parent) includes the following:

  • Give Me, Get Me, Buy Me by Donna Corwin (review here)
  • Get Financially Naked by Manisha Thakor and Sharon Kedar (review here)
  • Munny Journey, a keepsake journal (review here)

Box 2 (for the Investor) includes:

  • Understanding Wall Street by Jeffrey B. Little and Lucien Rhodes
  • How to Make a Fortune… by Ron Insana (review here)
  • Socially Responsible Investing for Dummies by Ann Logue (Ann’s guest post can be found here)

Box 3 (for those in Trouble) has:

  • Where the Jobs are Now by Joe Watson
  • Living Well with Bad Credit by Chris Balish and Geoff Williams (review here)
  • America, Welcome to the Poorhouse by Jane White (review here)

What’s required to enter this fantastic Bonanza Book Bonkers Blowout? (All right, so I’m going crazy with the B’s).

Leave a comment below before Midnight, September 10th, sharing one thing you did this summer that improved your financial position. It could range from something ultra-small (we, for example, started setting the thermostat higher during the day) to major (like the budget overhaul we undertook a few months ago).

Let’s pat each other on the back for a job well done this summer.

In your comment, leave the box number you’d like to win! (And be sure to use a working email address in the email field).

Unfortunately, this contest is open to legal U.S. residents only, where permissible by law, yada, yada. Sorry, international shipping is a killer.

Enjoy your new reading material!

  1. We’re in the process of refinancing our house which will help free up some cash to pay down other debt.

    Fingers crossed for box #2.

  2. I did a marathon shirt-pressing session over 4th of July weekend to cut back on dry cleaning bills. And we’ve been trying to be more diligent about turning the lights off when we leave the room.

Box 2 is my pick – Looking forward to September 20th!

  3. We adopted the turning up the thermostat trick during the work day, unplug all unused appliances and have given up all restaurants during the week! My husband has ramped up his debit card use for monies transferred automatically to his savings in a way to save program as well..

We could benefit from popular Box # 2

  4. We started journaling a bit more closely, washing in cold and using the clothesline instead of the dryer. It’s made a difference in our electric bill for sure!

We could definitely use Box #1 (2 year old and thinking about having baby #2)

  5. I walked instead of using the car to save money (and get some exercise). I’d like to win Box 2.

  6. I started accepting advertising on my blog. 🙂 I’d love to win box 2.
(I’m not a US resident but I have a US postal address if that’s OK?).

  7. This summer I went to the local public library at least one a week. Free books, magazines, newspapers, movies, internet, even blessed air conditioning! What’s not to like?

    I’m hoping for box #3!

  8. We started buying fresh produce at the local farmers market. We’re eating healthier and focusing our meals on produce has lowered our grocery bill!

    We could use box 3.

  9. I created a budget plan and I think I’m doing fairly well sticking to it, even though its been hard.

    I’d really like Box 3.

  10. I tracked all my expenses on Quicken online, and now switched over to Mint due to Quicken’s demise. I’d like box 2.

  11. The winners were selected by a random number generator and are as follows:

    Box 1: Sharon
    Box 2: Michael
    Box 3: Treii

I’ll contact everyone individually via email for your addresses. Thanks for playing, everyone! Good luck next time.
